Blended Learning And Quipper Reviwed by Irma

Hello friends, welcome back to Irma's Notes.  How are you?  Hopefully always in a healthy and happy condition.  Well, on this occasion I will review about Blended Learning.  Do you know what blendid learning is?  In my opinion, in this era, many schools and colleges have implemented a blended learning system.  Instead of asking what is blendid learning, let's just look at the explanation below.

 A. Definition of blended learning

Blended learning is a combination of direct (face-to-face) teaching and online teaching, but more than that as an element of social interaction, which facilitates learning by combining various modes of delivery, teaching models, and learning styles, introducing a variety of dialogue media options.  between the facilitator and the person who receives the instruction. According Semler (2005)  “Blended learning combines the best aspects of online learning, structured face-to-face activities, and real world practice. Online learning systems, classroom training, and on-the-job experience have major drawbacks by themselves. The blended learning approach uses the strengths of each to counter the others’ weaknesses.  

The advantages of using blended learning as a combination of direct (face-to-face) teaching and online teaching, but more than that as an element of social interaction, namely:

 a.  There is an interaction between teachers and students

 b.  Teaching can also be online or face to face

 c.  Blended Learning = combining instructional modalities (or delivery media)

After knowing what blended learning is, I will also discuss applications that can support blended learning activities, namely Quipper.I would like to review about Quipper School.  Surely you guys have heard the word "Quipper", yes, this application is a learning application that uses an online system which is very useful for students and teachers as a learning space.  Are you curious about Quipper?  Immediately, I will explain starting from how to use Quipper school for teachers, the advantages and disadvantages of Quipper school.

Previously, let's read a glimpse of what Quipper School is.

A. QUIPPER SCHOOL

Quipper School is a Learning Management System that has been provided by Quipper Indonesia with the aim of helping teachers and students carry out online learning activities.  Like learning in school, the teacher acts as a facilitator in managing material, carrying out tests or exams, and observing student development.  So that students can easily do homework, assignments, to online exams.

 

B. QUIPPER SCHOOL FEATURES

 There are three features provided by Quipper school, including:

·         First is a feature for QLink teachers (Teacher Portal)

The portal is used to assist teachers in managing the class by sending assignments and materials to students.  In addition, teachers also find it easier to manage student grades, because they will get student work results automatically without having to manually correct each student's answer.

·         Second, QCreate (Content creation portal)

Still intended for teachers, this feature provides flexibility for teachers in terms of making questions or material according to their needs, and can be published on their personal Quipper account.

·         Third, QLearn (Student Portal)

Unlike the previous portals, the QLearn portal is specifically for students doing assignments and receiving material that has been given by the teacher.

 

C.  HOW TO USE QUIPPER SCHOOL FOR TEACHERS

 

1.      Visit the Quipper school website

First visit the following address https://www.quipper.com/id/school to register your Quipper School account.  After that, go to the Quipper School page, select the Teacher Portal. Register for a Quipper School account.

2.      Second, click "join" to create / register a Quipper teacher account.

3.      Fill in the Registration Form

In this section please fill in complete information starting from your name, email (use an email that is still active), password, to your phone number (use a phone number that is still active).  Then click continue.Fill in School Identity

4.      Next, select Province, City / Regency, and the name of the school in the box provided.  Make sure the data filled in is correct, then click continue.

5.      Verification

Check the email that was registered earlier to verify, and the final step in creating a Quipper School account is to verify the Quipper video team by calling the following number: 0811 1785 309/0811 9941 637

After knowing how to create a Quipper school for teacher account.  I will discuss what are the advantages or disadvantages of this Quipper school.

 D.  STRENGTHS OF QUIPPER SCHOOL 

 1. Free

In using Quipper School, both students and teachers are free of charge or free.  We only need an internet connection to access it.

2. Quipper School provides subject matter and questions for the Indonesian subject.  Indonesia, Bhs.  English, Mtk, IPA, and IPS for class X-XII.  All content is made based on the direction of experienced teaching staff around the world and has been localized.

3. This service has thousands of topics for Indonesian, English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies for grades 10-12.

4. Offers valuable data analysis, which will provide a clear picture of student achievement.

5. Can access "Quipper School" anywhere, either via a WiFi or 3G connection when you are traveling.  Thus, students can study anywhere with ease.

6. Save time in terms of assignments and assessments.

7. “Quipper School” can accommodate up to 60 students and you can create as many classes as you need.

8. Students can use this service through any device.  They can be connected via PC, tablet or smartphone.  Thus, they can study in class or at home.

9. There is a help center that makes it easy for you to understand every detail of the quipper

E . LACK OF QUIPPER SCHOOL

1)  There is no time limit for working on questions.  so that as teachers we cannot accurately know how long it takes students to complete the assignment given.

2) There is no social media as a place for discussion.  However, we can create a special group to discuss

3) The material content is still limited for junior high school, high school and SBMPTN students.  Not yet available for elementary students.

4)  The course materials available are general subjects only.
